Everything you need to know about HookPop.
HookPop is an AI-powered YouTube SEO and social distribution engine. Every time you run it on a video, it watches the video, writes an optimized title, description, and tags for YouTube, then generates platform-specific captions and posts them to your connected social accounts.
The AI analyzes the actual video content, classifies the video type, identifies your tone, and generates copy designed to maximize click-through rate.
Any YouTube creator who uploads consistently and wants to stop spending time writing descriptions and social copy. Especially useful if you upload multiple videos per week.
Currently supported: X / Twitter, Facebook, Threads, and Instagram (Shorts only, uploaded as Reels).
Instagram only supports Shorts (videos under 3 minutes). Long-form videos will not appear as an Instagram option.
Yes — enable Auto-Run from your dashboard. Every new video you publish will be detected and processed within minutes. Auto-run pauses if credits run too low and resumes automatically once replenished.
Credits are the currency for actions on HookPop. 1 credit = $0.01. You start with 100 free credits. Credits are only deducted when an action succeeds.
A full run (YouTube + all 4 platforms) costs at most 30 credits ($0.30).
Manual runs fail with an insufficient credits error. Auto-run pauses and sends you an email. Add credits from the dashboard — auto-run resumes on your next upload automatically.
Posts the AI-generated engagement question as a comment on your video immediately after the YouTube update. Designed to drive early comment velocity.
Disabled on Regenerate runs to avoid posting duplicate comments.
OPTIMIZE appears on unprocessed videos. REGENERATE re-runs the AI on already-optimized videos, locked to YouTube Only mode to avoid duplicate social posts.
Videos must be: public, not a live stream, have statistics, and long-form videos must have a custom thumbnail. Shorts are exempt from the thumbnail rule.
Use the video search bar to find a specific video by ID.
Any video 3 minutes or under is a Short. Shorts use a specialized AI prompt and support Instagram Reels. Long-form videos get full SEO with timestamps and detailed descriptions.
HookPop's AI watches the actual video content, classifies the video type, identifies your tone, and generates an SEO package tailored to that specific video.
Common causes: copyrighted music, named major-label artists, or content policy violations. No credits are charged when analysis fails.
Use Socials Only mode to post to social platforms without AI analysis.
Occasionally the AI processes only the text context rather than watching the video, usually when processing limits are hit. Use REGENERATE to retry.
Common causes: expired access token (reconnect the platform), insufficient permissions, platform API outage, or X rate limits.
Hover over a red icon on the dashboard to see the specific error message.
Green = posted. Yellow = staged/queued (X — will post shortly). Red = failed (hover for error).
Instagram posting is not currently supported. Shorts cannot be downloaded from Cloud Run IPs, so Instagram Reels upload is silently skipped. Long-form Instagram posting is also not supported. X, Facebook, and Threads work normally.
HookPop subscribes to YouTube's PubSubHubbub feed, which sends a push notification within seconds to minutes of a new video going public.
Typically 2–5 minutes from publish to optimized: YouTube notification (~1 min) + AI analysis (~1–2 min) + YouTube update + social posts.
Credits ran too low to cover a full run. Add credits and auto-run resumes on your next upload automatically.
The video may not have been fully public yet, it was already optimized (auto-run skips previously-optimized videos), or AI analysis failed.
Instagram must be a Business or Creator account linked to your Facebook Page.
Click Disconnect next to the platform in the Connections tab. To reconnect later, use the Connect button.
If Running for more than 15 minutes, refresh the dashboard. The system detects stalls and re-queues automatically.
YouTube PubSubHubbub leases last 5 days. A scheduled job renews them every 4 days automatically. If you suspect notifications stopped, toggle auto-run off and back on to force an immediate re-subscription.
